We launch our new charity program

“BREAK THE SILENCE”

This program is intended to support victims of domestic violence who have a permanent hearing disability, who suffer from deafness or hearing loss, and who need assistance in obtaining hearing aid treatment, rehabilitation, or counselling directly related to hearing impairment.

“Break The Silence” provides eligible low-income victims of domestic violence access to much-needed hearing devices and treatments free of charge.

Our vision to help women in need has been realized thanks to the generous assistance and support from Oticon, a hearing aid manufacturer in Denmark. “Oticon’s mission was developed from a foundation of care, with the passion to help people with hearing needs. They support this initiative as it brings Oticon closer to their vision of a world, where innovative hearing technology can meaningfully change the lives of people with hearing loss.” said our Oticon Partner.

We are hoping our program will:

  •  Help vulnerable women to get life back by breaking the silence from hearing loss.
  • Increased awareness of the problem by Breaking the Silence and ignorance of the domestic violence issue.

We not only want to help women to reduce their hearing disability but also encourage other people to give more attention to the problem of domestic violence.

Eligibility is limited to those women who are: between 18 and 65 years of age; are Alberta residents; have no other insurance covering the cost of hearing aids, and have an income less than $20,970 if single; $33,240 if a family with no children; or $39,250 or less for a family with children. In all cases, no other insurance covering the cost of hearing aids should be available.

To register for the program, you must provide a valid photo ID, Alberta Hearing Card and proof of income with one of the following:

  • Notice of Assessment
  • Income Tax Return
  • AISH card
  • Social Assistance Registration
